Book is on the Market!

December 6, 2010 at 8:52 pm (Uncategorized)

I am excited to say that my book is on the market at this very moment. I’m nervous and excited all at once. I’m not sure what to do next. I have a bunch of questions sent to the publisher on how to proceed right now. Just waiting for the advice to come through. This is a historic moment for me and I have to thank God for it. Without him I would never have come this far. If anyone want to buy it they can go to Publish America and search under fiction for Celtic Rose. Or I have the link –

This will take you directly to my book. Now I have to find out what to do next to do the marketing for my book. There will be regular posting about any steps taken from this moment.

Publishing Moving Along

December 3, 2010 at 3:01 pm (Uncategorized)

I received my cover design and my book form text yesterday. They are looking great! Seeing how my book is going to look when it is published is making this whole experience more real. The cover looks beautiful, it has Celtic designs behind the title and my name. It’s not exactly what I expected but it looks great none the less. It is also blue, my favorite color. 🙂 My friend thought it should be green because of it being Celtic but I think for my first book I like the fact that it’s my favorite color. I have until December 6th to look through the text for any publisher errors. I found a few spacing problems so far but nothing too bad. I really like it so I may send in about the spacing and once that’s fixed it will move to the production line and as soon as it’s made It will move to marketing and I will get an email that it’s on the market to be sold. During the waiting it seemed to take forever, but this has been a lot quicker than I could have ever imagined. I’m so happy right now. Hopefully it will come out and sell rapidly, that would be more than I could hope for. At least I know it will sell fairly well locally because I will be doing some of my own marketing around here. I can’t wait to get started! 😀

Book Two Start

November 27, 2010 at 9:02 pm (Second Book)

I decided that while I wait I would start on my second book. I got a pretty good start on it last night and plan to write a little every night. Hopefully by the time my first book gets to selling pretty good I will get my second book finished and published. It seems that my first book is going to be sold online mostly, but I will make it to where it is out there locally. I already have a deal with the local hasting to put my first book on the shelves on consignment so it will at least be sold there. I’m not sure if I can get it placed anywhere else but we shall see.

To continue about my second book. I started it with a dream much like I did with the first book, but it is a different kind of dream rather than memories of the past. It is more of a haunting of the soul for sins done in the past. There is no one around for the main character Kallisto so she is alone in the beginning, even her twin is gone this time. There will be more twists to this story including the fact that the characters will have many memories to begin with instead of having to learn them all over again.

Vampires will also become a part of the story with the werewolves and we will meet the Amazon tribe that Ramina came from, which is also the tribe that includes the character Shappa Reya from the first book. She’s older, she’s wiser and now she’s the Queen. It will all be very exciting. I seem to have forgotten how much happier I am when I write. I was waiting for the first book to get published and doing things for school so I hadn’t had time to write, but last night I had the itch and started writing. I was smiling the whole time. I love to write more than almost anything. So I will be working vigorously on that and I will be posting new developments in the writing process plus I will be sure to let everyone know as more news comes about my first publishing exploit.

Publishing Wait

November 17, 2010 at 5:01 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m still waiting for the publishing company to send me the manuscript in book format for my approval. After I approve it then my manuscript will be sent to the design department for them to make a cover for my book. They will make two and then I will need to choose one of them for the cover before my book will go into production. I haven’t been blogging much lately because of the wait period and the lack of any news to post on here. I am posting this so that the people interested in my blog will know that I am still here and I will be more active with my blog as more news comes in. Right now the waiting process is long and harsh so it may be awhile before my next blog post. I will be done with this semester of school by the second week of December and I plan to write on my second book then. I will post blogs on the process of that when I start. Hopefully there will be more news about my first book in that time. So for now I will say Adieu, but just for a little while.

Thought of the Day

November 8, 2010 at 8:03 pm (Uncategorized)

I was just thinking today about getting published and I had a thought. There are millions or even billions of writers out there that have gotten published and very few of them become well known. I have friends that tell me to remember them when I’m famous all the time. I wonder if writers think they’re going to be famous if they get published? I for one have never thought I would become famous. I might become kind of famous in my own home town or the county or even the state if I sell enough books, but being famous around the world? I seriously doubt it. Most writers do not become famous unless there is a movie done about their book. And although it would be great for there to be a movie made based off of my book I plan to keep my feet on the ground and not expect much. Until I do get known in some capacity not many people are going to view this blog, but just in case some day my posts do get noticed I want people to know that I come from humble beginnings and even if I do make it far in the writing world I will always be the same person I am today. I am a Christian woman, a mother, a daughter, a granddaughter, a writer, a student, a sunday school teacher, eventually I will be a school teacher, and I am a member of a big family. I am me and I will always be me. No amount of fame will make me someone different. I am mainly writing this to me so that if I do become something I’m not I can look back on this and be reminded where I come from. I believe everyone should have something to remind them of their beginnings so they don’t get bigger than their britches. 🙂

Publish Talk 2

November 3, 2010 at 3:04 pm (Uncategorized)

My materials are all at the publisher now and my book has been placed on the production line. They have chosen the new title for my book and it will now be called ‘Celtic Rose’ and I also found that the only way my book will be published in a few weeks was if I paid for it to be pushed to the front of the line, which I can’t afford so… There are apparently some books ahead of mine and I will have to wait for it to be published but that is just fine at least it’s getting published. The first step is the text line which will transform my manuscript into book style and then it will go to the cover department so that the artist can create a cover for my book. Soon after that it will be printed and made into a book. I can’t wait! But I am going to have to because I didn’t have the $199 to push it to the front of the line. It’s all good though I’m not worried. I was told that I should be receiving an email from the designer before too long.

They told me that the average wait time for a book to be published is over a year, but that their company does it in several months, 6 to 9 months to be exact, and that is a worst case scenario. They have everything for my book right now and as long as I respond to their emails promptly and there are no hang-ups on my end then it shouldn’t even take that long. I don’t plan to hold them up in any way so I expect that my book will be published and ready for the market in a few months, depending on how many books are on the line in front of mine and depending on whether or not other people pay to have theirs pushed to the front of the line. Still I’m not worried and it will be great! 😀

Publish Talk

October 31, 2010 at 4:46 pm (Uncategorized)

I have finished correcting and making changes to my manuscript. It is completed and I’m not touching it again. 😀 I wrote the synopsis and the biography several days ago and I got my friends and acquaintences email addresses so that they can receive an email when my book hits the market. I also had to take author photos so that I could get my picture on the back of the book. I really hate taking pictures. I can see flaws in every picture taken of me, but I sucked it up and chose three of the pictures that I mostly liked to send to the publisher. Everything is sent in and ready to go. I even sent them my ideas for the cover of the book. So now all that is to be done is the cover which they will make two and send them to me for approval. Which ever one I choose will be the cover for my book. I also had to send in three new titles for my book because they already had a book being published by the same name as my own. So I sent in three and they get to choose which one they’ll use. Once all of that is done it will be sent to the printing press and then placed on the market. I can’t wait, I’m so excited! 😀 I should be able to hold my published book in my hand in just a few short weeks.

The Main Character Kallisto

October 21, 2010 at 9:24 pm (Character Blogs)

Well… Now that I have covered all of the characters in my book I guess it’s time to discuss the main character. Kallisto is based off of me. I made the main character of the book as an extention of me. Kallisto is the way I wish I could be in many ways. The description of the character is based off of me, minus my flaws. 🙂 The personality of the character is the way I wish I was. I wanted her to have a strong personality, a leader that could take charge, beautiful although she does not see it, and powerful beyond her comprehension. She is the glue that holds the group together. She and Talus are the beginning and the end of the curse, but if Kallisto dies then they all die. And in turn if her brother Kalan dies then she dies. Kalan and Kallisto are tied so closely that whatever affects one affects the other. So if either Kalan or Kallisto die it is the end or, in the case of the curse, it is a new beginning. Kallisto is tied to her brother Kalan, her love Talus, her power source William, and her protector Gabriel. The others, Ramina, Ephiny, and Keira are tied to Kallisto through the ones that are tied to her so it has become a web with Kallisto as the center. She is the central part of the story as other stories are going on around her. You see different perspectives in the book than just Kallisto’s but all the stories revolve around Kallisto in some way whether it’s to get a perspective of Kallisto that she cannot see herself, or whether it’s to deepen a story that ties it all together. It is all surrounding the central story of Kallisto and any perspective that does not show Kallisto is just another step to revealing something that has confused or been unknown to Kallisto throughout the many years.

I hope you enjoyed yet another look into my fantasy world. I apologize that it has been a while since I posted but I have been doing a lot with school, and I spent some much needed time with my son last weekend. I will post more later. 😀

The Character Keira

October 21, 2010 at 9:23 pm (Character Blogs)

The character Keira was based off of a girl that I know through my cousin. She is very sweet and loving, but she also has a temper. I based this character off of her personality. I have known this girl for a few years now and this is the aspect I have used from her personality. The character started out blonde because the girl the character is based off of was blonde, but after years of knowing this girl as a blonde I found out that she is truly a brunette and had only been bleaching her hair. Her hair did not look like it was bleached so I didn’t know. It looked all natural. She told me that she was tired of having to bleach her hair so she went back to her original color. I decided that I would change the character in the book with the times and have her as a brunette in the old days and a blonde in the present days. This worked out beautifully for the character development and explanations in the book. The story flowed easily and worked out better than I had imagined with this character. I believe that no one should be alone. And since my characters no longer have family besides each other I decided that they each needed someone to connect too. Gabriel was as alone as he could get. He didn’t have family and he wouldn’t allow himself to be a part of the group so I decided to add a soul mate for him as well. Keira is exactly what he needs and exactly what gets Gabriel to open up.

I hope you enjoyed this little tid bit. More post will follow at a later time.

The Characters Talus, Kalan, and William

October 21, 2010 at 9:22 pm (Character Blogs)

These characters are all figments of my imagination. Kalan is the twin brother I wish I had. Talus is the man I wish I loved. William is the power source I wish I had. 🙂

Talus is my idea of the perfect man for me. I have never once found a man that carries all of the qualities that this man has. My grandfather, who passed away a few years ago was as close to a perfect man as I had ever seen. He took care of his family and friends the best that he could. He had his flaws but all humans do, but those flaws were well hidden and a person looking from the outside would never know. Only those closest to him knew about his flaws. In a way my perfect man is based off of my grandfather. Talus doesn’t have all of my grandfathers personality traits – that would just be creepy- 😀 but he does have the aspects of my grandfather that I would want to see in the man I love. It is said that a daughter will marry a man like her father. My grandfather was my father and so I guess I use him for comparison sake. All the men I have met have seemed to pale in comparison to my grandfather and I’m not even sure there are men out there like my grandfather anymore. So I created a man like him for the love interest in my book. It isn’t immortalizing my grandfather completely because it isn’t all him in the personality, but in part I am immortalizing his essence in my book.

Kalan is my other half. He is brilliant and good looking. He is the type of man that all the girls would love to have. In the old days brothers took care of their sisters and that is the aspect I wanted to put into my book. Kalan is protective of his sister and they are bonded in a way that makes sure that they stay together always. They fight for each other, they love each other, and they would die for one another. (literally) 😉 Kalan is the epiphany of what I would want in a brother. Now there are brothers out there who would do anything for their sisters, but I rarely see it. That is why I put this in my book, because I wanted to immortalize the brothers who are like this. Now granted he goes crazy at one point, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love his sister. 🙂 He is just driven mad by outside forces and it causes him to think certain things that are wrong would be right. I don’t want to give too much away so I apologize if that is cryptic but if you read the book then you would understand perfectly.

There has been a lot of debate about William’s character. He is another figment of my imagination, and I created him out of thin air with no thoughts of anyone to base him off of, but the Muse is adamant that William’s character has many aspects of another friend of ours. If the aspects of this person snuck in then I did not even think about it. I guess sometimes writers characters end up with aspects of people that they know without the author even thinking about that person to begin with. As far as I was concerned though I just made him up as a power source for the main character in times of distress, injury, or weakening of power. Gabriel and this character are a big part of the comic relief in my book. Their loathing attitudes toward each other make for great comedy. This is where the dark humor of Gabriel comes into play because it is mainly directed at William. Of course the personality William has just begs to be knocked down. He is rather arrogant and and acts like he’s better then Gabriel. He has a sweet side where the main character and Ephiny are concerned, but his attitude throughout the book is mainly that of a child that doesn’t get what he wants. He pouts constantly and brutes around when he’s upset. I just wanted a character like this because all of the other characters have good solid personalities and I wanted a personality that was different from all the others and that could be used as a comical break from all the action and drama that happens throughout the book (sometimes the comedy comes during the action and drama because of this character)

I combined these because they weren’t really based off of anyone in particular. At least not on purpose. 😉  I hope you enjoyed this inside look of the extra characters more will follow later.
