New Blog!

April 30, 2011 at 7:32 pm (Uncategorized)

I have a new blog now. I will probably post more on the second one than this one because this talks about my past experience which all in all did not go well. The new blog is my present and future. Hopefully it will turn out a bit better than the last. I will most likely still post on this one but it will be about the experiences with this last publisher and my old book, as my experience with them is still not over and the book is still around (for now). I plan to redo my first book and make some changes and republish it with a new, and hopefully better, publisher. I have someone looking at it right now. If they decide to publish it then it will be great because the owner of this publisher is a fellow author and someone I can call friend. If not there are many other publishers that my other author friends have suggested for me to look into. There is a light at the end of this tunnel. :) With these friends at my back I know I can do better. They will help me to decide what to do and I can get wonderful advice from the more experienced and successful authors in that group.

My new blog is at: http://jillranneycampbellauthor.blogspot.com/ feel free to come by and check out the new and improved site and experiences. :) See you there.

Book Chat W/ Muse

March 30, 2011 at 7:08 pm (Second Book)

Here is an entire chat with the Muse. We were going over a scene in the book so I could get his reactions. He did use his musing ability a little but this is more of a reactionary piece. I hope you all enjoy it. :)  WARNING: SPOILERS!

Jill: So Kallisto finally convinced Morgan and she goes on her way. Gabriel said she’d find her way to him so she just starts driving and ends up going south into texas.

Muse: Texas!!

Jill: All of a sudden she feels the pull and has to turn she goes through louisianna

Muse: Yes yes

Jill: mississippi, and alabama and feels the pull taking her back to the north

Muse: North?

Jill: she goes through tennessee and into kentucky

Muse: Many a good tthings are there.

Jill: She gets into Louisville and drives through all the tall buildings and feels the need to stop in front of one of the tall buildings.

Muse: O_o

Jill: She goes in and the receptionist is really rude, as she’s looking around she sees all these dudes in suits and she’s like this can’t be the right place all the memories of Gabriel are totally different from this.

Muse: I forsee a helicopter

Jill: The receptionist calls “Mr. Wolfe” and finds that Kallisto is expected

Muse: (GRIN)

Jill: The receptionist tells her to go to the elevator to the top floor. Kallisto asks her which room and the woman rolls her eyes and says the elevator opens right up at his office

Muse: Lol

Jill: Kallisto gets into the elevator and finds that the top floor is the thirteenth floor and she’s like that figures.

Muse: That’s funny!!!

Jill: When the doors open she’s amazed to find that his office is the whole floor.

Muse: Suite

Jill: She sees a desk at the opposite wall from the elevator. The chair is facing the wall of windows and as she’s walking towards it she sees….

Muse: Bum bum bum

Jill: honest to goodness crap kicking boots propped up on the window sil that are black and nice black jeans

Muse: Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahah

Jill: She thinks she has the wrong Gabriel and says his name as a question. He chuckles and turns slowly.  like a villain

Muse: And? And? And?

Jill: She see first that he’s wearing a suit jacket and tie, with a cowboy hat

Muse: Yes yees! And? And?

Jill: And then he’s stroking a cat on his lap that she immediately recognizes as… Six toes!

Muse: JACKPOT!!

Jill: The cat jumps up on the desk and bounds into her arms loving on her and then jumps back on the desk sits down staring and her and then back to Gabriel expectantly.

Muse: That’s good I like that.

Jill: Gabriel gets up and as he’s coming around the desk she notices that he has long hair pulled back in a pony tail

Muse: Singin “I got my game on” like trace atkins

Jill: She stands there shocked for a moment and as he walks up to her she says….

Muse: What took ya?

Jill: You look like J.R. from that old show Dallas my grandmother used to watch.

Muse: Lmao!! That funny

Jill: He laughs and picks her up in that giant bear hug he always does but she is not prepared because she’s so in shock. he finally sits her down when her breath starts coming out in a squeak

Muse: And sixtoes is wonderin what she is doing with his toy.

Jill: There’s some drama as he finds out that the desendence of Ephiny don’t want to take us on anymore because of the heartache. no but that’s funny I may have to put that in He has to get a message to the monks but there aren’t any phones so he opens and windo and waits.

Muse: I was wonderin if you were reading what I was puting on.

Jill: lady flies in and there’s a touching reunion between her and Kallisto of course have to get the reactions

Muse: Naturaly

Jill: Gabriel asks lady to deliver the message but she doesn’t want to go so he says Kallisto will stay with him and they can see each other again so she gets down on the desk and holds her leg out so he can tie the leather strap on and then waits while he writes the note and straps it to her leg

Muse: After that long looking for her I don’t blame her

Jill: Gabriel says they need to get the others and gets up to move to the elevator. Six toes catches him on his way by the desk and jumps up on Gabriels shoulder. Gabriel just keeps walking like it’s normal

Muse: Cause it is

Jill: Kallisto says “He’s a parrot cat. Who knew?”

Muse: And sixtoes sticks out his tounge

Jill: Six toes just looks back at her and Gabriel chuckles. She follows them into the elevator. I might have to put that in and have her look all shocked or something

Muse: Yeah……..

Jill: And that’s where it stops.

Muse: I’m sure there is more dialof that I’m not getting in this verssion huh? Damn I can’t type

Jill: Don’t worry I’ve done some research and found several big ranches and mansions and stuff that I have been looking at for his house. Yeah more dialog I just gave you the main good parts

Muse: Thought so.

Muse: Really tempted to go read it now

Jill: Gabriel gets all angry about them not wanting to take care of the cursed ones and calls them ungrateful retches and all that

Muse: Ooooooooo

Jill: wait til tomorrow you got the highlights that should do you for tonight and hopefully I can add some more tomorrow

Muse: Its rather hard. But for the promise of more added to it I think I can wait. I think Maybe I’ll wait. Gonna have the days last cigarette though.

Jill: I’m gonna copy and paste it to the idea page in drop box so I can remember the convo and the two ideas you posted

Muse: Oh lord. Lol

Jill: yeah thinking about putting this one on the blog

Muse: I saw that one coming. Lol

Jill: It was a good example of our book conversations

Muse: True. True.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!!

March 17, 2011 at 8:00 pm (Uncategorized)

This is the perfect day for my book to be advertised. I’m hoping people will be looking for Celtic books today and find mine. I’ve been working on the second book for the past two days and will be for a little bit today. It’s going really well. I hope I can keep going at least a little bit everyday so that it won’t take as long as the first one to get finished. Just wanted to give a small update and wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! I’m wearing my green ‘made in Ireland’ t-shirt so no pinches for me. ;) Have a wonderful day. More will be posted later.

Progress Report

March 9, 2011 at 10:43 pm (Uncategorized)

I apologize for not being on here for a while. I’ve been so busy with school that I haven’t really had time to work on anything else. I had to start working again too because my loans for school lost their deferrment because I don’t have enough hours. It’ll pick back up when I student teach though. Also I have the summer off so I will be able to work on my second book all summer even on the days that I work because I will have time before I work on most days and before and after on the days that I work second shift.  It will probably be slow when I work second shift so I will be able to write at work as well on those days. I will give more reports here on my blog when I have been able to work on the book more. It will most likely be the middle or end of April to the beginning of May before I get back started on the book and the blog. But keep checking in and I will have new info on here soon. :D

Second Book Progress

January 19, 2011 at 6:46 pm (Uncategorized)

My Muse and I spoke a lot last night about the second book and made some progress on the details. I had an idea of what I wanted in a scene and my Muse helped me to perfect the details. We were going to end our discussion at nine last night so that we could both get to bed early, but the discussion ended up going on until about eleven. lol That seems to be our way. Once we’re in the conversation we lose track of time and by the time we’re finished we’ve traveled along through nearly the whole book thinking up scenes and new twists to make the book even more exciting. I’m so thankful to have a Muse to help me to make my book the best that it can be. It’s really very creepy how things work out when we get to talking about the book. We talk about different ideas and when I do the research to see how to work it in online it always seems perfect. Spoiler Alert: I’m going to talk about one such experience while talking about the second book. We looked at an atlas to see how far Egypt was from Ireland per the first book and then went the opposite direction the same distance for the second book and it put us squarely in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. We had an idea about the lost city of Atlantis. We are also going to be going to the Amazon’s at some point and we found that where we wanted to be along the Amazon river is almost straight south of the spot in the Atlantic. Also, the spot on the Amazon’s is directly on the Equator and the spot in the Atlantic is directly on the Tropic of Cancer. My Muse also mention something about the Bermuda Triangle. We had talked about going straight East to the United States which would place us at the islands between North and South America and low and behold that took us exactly into to the Bermuda Triangle. Therefore every idea we had worked one right into the other. It is creepy but also very amazing. There were other events in the second book that dawned on us that made more sense and worked into the story so much more effeciently than would could ever have thought.

That’s all the spoilers and info for today. Now for the writing process of the ideas and bringing the book together. More will follow as the story comes together.

Second Book Look

January 17, 2011 at 10:03 pm (Uncategorized)

The writing on the second book is still slow going, but it’s due to the fact of not having time.  I have, however, introduced a new character into the mix. Her name is Morgan and she is the new mother for Kallisto. The other mother, Hope, from the first book has passed so this is the one who took Kallisto in. If you notice I haven’t said anything about Kalan, it’s because he isn’t there. It’s another little twist for the second book. Another little twist is that Morgan doesn’t know anything about the curse so she cannot be the one to help it get started, but another little twist, which I can’t mention at this time, causes the cursed ones to come to light on their own.  That’s all I have for the moment for you, but keep in touch there will be more on the subject posted as it is written.

First Book Info

January 17, 2011 at 9:57 pm (Uncategorized)

I am excited to report that my book is now located in 29 places. Most of them are online, but some include stores. My book can now be bought everywhere in the US, Canada, France, Germany, the UK, and now Japan. It is going worldwide. :) I know that not many people are going to buy a book from an unknown author for the price that the publisher is asking for so I don’t really have high hopes to make a lot of money, but at least it’s out there and people can look at it and buy it if they wish. Being bought or not, having my book out there is still an awesome experience. Maybe once my contract is up I can find a way to get it published again for a smaller price. I’m still working on the second book and I hope with it I can find something better for the readers so that it will have a better chance of being bought. My apologies to all those readers out there who might be interested but cannot or will not buy because of the price. I’m looking into other avenues at the moment, but it will be tied up for at least two years with the current publisher.  To find the best price for my book or to just see where it can be located you can go to bookfinder4you.com and type in Celtic Rose in the search. This will show the different places my book is located and the prices at those places. Thank you for your interest and have a wonderful day. :D

Second Book Process Update

January 9, 2011 at 4:00 am (Second Book)

I have worked much more on my book throughout the holidays. I haven’t had a chance to speak with my Muse much, but once I looked back at the start the story seemed to flow from my fingertips effortlessly. I’m nearly done with the first chapter. I know it sounds like that’s not very much, but if you’re a writer then you’ll know how much work just a few pages can take. :) I had to stop writing for a short period after that because my family had gathered for the festivities. That was a very long two weeks. School started back for my son and there were several life areas that needed to be tended. My schooling will be starting back on this coming Tuesday but lucky the class is only on Tuesday and Thursday. I’ll have most of the week to work on homework and squeeze in a few pages here and there of my new book. I’ve heard that some authors write only a page or two a night, or more if time allows and have their books finished within a year. I’m hoping to have my next book ready in the next six months. I might be pushing myself a little hard on that one though.  I very nearly took a semester off just so I could work on the next book but I really need to finish my schooling. I’m very nearly done. I have the last class to take this semester and then next semester I will student teach and that means I can graduate in December of this year rather than May of next year.  After I graduate then I can devote more time to writing, because with the way the economy is going now a days it might take me a short while to find a teaching position. Well I’m off for now to work a little more before bed.

Second Book Process

December 23, 2010 at 8:50 pm (Uncategorized)

The writing of the second book has been slow and tedious. I having a good attention grabbing start but with the holidays and everything that has been going on in my life I haven’t gotten much more done than that. I know the exact events that need to be there but I can’t seem to get the details in between. It seems I need another visit with my Muse. :) Hopefully after that the writing will go a little quicker than it has been. It may have to be after the holidays though because both of us, me and my Muse, are very busy this holiday season. It’s hard on the Muse when he is also very busy with life, work, friends, family, and being a Muse to others. We joke that he is Iron Man without all the gadgets. ;) Poor Muse. Life is not easy for a real life super hero. That’s why he is such a good inspiration for my character, Gabriel.  Hopefully after the holidays I will have more news to report on the second book. Til then, Fare Thee Well.

Book on Amazon

December 23, 2010 at 8:41 pm (Uncategorized)

My book is now available on Amazon.com.  Here is the link. http://www.amazon.com/Celtic-Rose-Jill-Ranney-Campbell/dp/1456029622/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1293136503&sr=1-1

It is a slow going process but my book is becoming available at other places now. Soon hopefully it will be on bookstore shelves. The publisher has requested email addresses for the local media in my area and they are going to be sending press releases to them all. Hopefully I will be getting more exposure soon. The more people who know about my book the better. I can’t wait for it to start selling, but I need the exposure first. Several of my friends, teachers, family, and church family have said they were going to buy it so I’m waiting for that. I’m also still waiting for my complimentary copy to come in. I was hoping it would be here before the holidays but it looks like it won’t be here until after the new year. Oh well. I’m a patient person so I’ll just be a good girl, sit here, and wait. :)
